Dislocation of the DIP joint:

  • Nonoperative treatment (splint)
  • Joint transfixation with K-wire

Dorsal avulsion injuries of the proximal end segment (mallet finger):

  • Nonoperative treatment (splint)
  • Joint transfixation with K-wire
  • Extensor block pinning or K-wire fixation (with joint transfixation)
  • Screw fixation

Palmar avulsion injuries of the proximal end segment:

  • Nonoperative treatment (splint)
  • Suture fixation
  • Screw fixation

Simple fractures of the diaphysis and distal end segment:

  • Nonoperative treatment (splint)
  • Cannulated screw fixation

Multifragmentary fractures of the diaphysis and distal end segment:
