Observation

1. General considerations

Observation may be considered in a compliant patient where:

  • A fracture line without displacement is noted on the CT
  • The fracture is stable
  • The occlusion is normal

The patient is instructed to stay on a non–chew diet for 4–6 weeks and recalled regularly to monitor healing.

Palatoalveolar simple injury

Note that this situation is fairly uncommon.
