Observation

1. Observation

Frontal sinus fractures with minimal displacement have little risk of long-term complications (esthetic or functional). Observation is a viable treatment option. However, patients must be educated regarding the signs and symptoms of frontal sinusitis and mucocele formation. These include:

  • Frontal pain/swelling/tenderness
  • Erythema
  • Mucopurulent nasal drainage
  • Orbital pain, swelling, erythema
  • Headache
  • Fever

2. Aftercare for observation

Observation implies close follow-up. For aftercare and rehabilitation following observation, please refer to your local protocol.
