Dorsal recumbency

1. Lateral recumbency

The horse is usually positioned in dorsal recumbency, although lateral recumbency may be chosen based on surgeon’s preference.
The affected limb is placed in extension and secured.
It is helpful to position the hind limb slightly cranial to relax the femoral-patellar joint maximally.
