Lateral recumbency
1. Positioning of the horse
The horse is placed in lateral recumbency with appropriate padding applied.
The surgical site is prepared and draped for aseptic surgery.
Usually, the affected limb is positioned uppermost, unless otherwise specified in the procedure.
A tourniquet is optional.
