Salter Harris type II distal physeal fractures

Definition

Salter Harris type II distal femoral physeal fractures have a very consistent configuration. The fracture initiates caudally, propagates cranially and then changes direction to a more proximal fracture plane leaving the cranial cortex of the distal femoral metaphysis attached to the epiphysis.
