Lateral recumbency

1. Positioning

When lateral recumbency is selected, the wound and/or fracture must be positioned upwards.

For fractures of the paracondylar process the head should be extended.

2. Anesthesia

General anesthesia is required for the treatment of complicated fractures. Nasal intubation is of great advantage rendering unobstructed view to the oral cavity.
