3rd carpal bone: Frontal slab fractures of the radial facet

Frontal fractures of the radial facet of the third carpal bone can be non-displaced or displaced. Both instances present with lameness and joint effusion. The nature of the fracture is confirmed with radiographs.

These fractures are demonstrated with:

• Lateromedial (LM) views

• Flexed LM views

• Dorsolateral-palmaromedial oblique (DL-PmMO) views

• Flexed dorsoproximal dorsodistaloblique (flexed D30Pr-DDiO) (skyline) views
