Bilateral approach

1. Indications

The bilateral approach provides adequate visualization of the articular surface of the femoral condyles and allows access for implant placement on the lateral and medial side. It may be preferred for 33-A3 and 33-C fractures.

The bilateral approach to the dog distal femur provides adequate visualization of the articular surface of the femoral condyle

This approach is a combination of the "Lateral parapatellar approach" and "Medial parapatellar approach". It can be performed through a single skin incision.
