Highlights of the pediatric humeral shaft module

The content of the pediatric proximal humeral fracture management module has been authored by Anna Clarke (UK) and Dorien Schneidmüller (DE) with Mamoun Kremli (SA) and Fergal Monsell (UK) as editors.

This module covers the treatment options for:

• Simple complete transverse fractures (12-D/4.1)
• Simple complete oblique or spiral fractures (12-D/5.1)
• Multifragmentary complete fractures (12-D/5.2)

These include detailed procedures on support with body binder/sling, splint, brace or cast, external fixation, and plate fixation. Three separate procedures for elastic nailing are presented.

The module is complemented with pages dedicated to patient assessment, complications and technical failures, and neurovascular anatomy.
