32-D/5.1   Complete oblique or spiral, simple

Definition

Simple oblique (>30°) or spiral fractures of the femoral shaft are classified 32-D/5.1. They may occur in the proximal, middle, or distal third of the femoral shaft.

These fractures are often a result of trauma with a rotational force.

They are axially unstable.
