32-D/4.1   Complete transverse, simple

Definition

Simple transverse or oblique (≤30°) fractures of the femoral shaft are classified 32-D/4.1. They may occur in the proximal, middle, or distal third of the femoral shaft.

These fractures are often a result of high-energy trauma.

They are axially stable and do not tend to shorten under load.
