23u-E/7   Avulsion of the styloid, ulna

This fracture pattern is rare and may be associated with intercarpal instability.

definition

Plain x-ray may not reveal injury if the styloid process is not yet ossified. Ultrasonography may be helpful if this injury is suspected on clinical grounds. If present and the clinical signs of wrist injury are marked, investigation for carpal instability by MRI should be undertaken.
