Wedge fracture with a fragmented wedge

These are classified as AO/OTA 42B3 fractures. These are multifragmentary diaphyseal fractures of the tibia. Once the fracture is reduced, there is contact between the proximal and distal fragments.

The wedge component of this fracture can be fractured in two or more fragments.

These fractures are caused by high-energy impact.
