Radius, extraarticular, multifragmentary

Multifragmentary fractures of the radial neck are classified as 2R1A3 fractures.

Multifragmentary radial neck fractures are uncommon and difficult to repair.

If the fracture is displaced and unstable, consider injury to the medial collateral ligament (valgus injury), both the medial and lateral collateral ligaments (elbow dislocation), or the interosseous ligament of the forearm (Essex-Lopresti injury).
