Definition

Unilateral complete with contralateral incomplete disruption of posterior arch  is classified as a AO/OTA 61C2 injury.

Ipsilateral injury completely unstable through the ilium, contralateral injury partially stable

Posterior ipsilateral injury
This is a complete fracture through the ilium.

This is classified as an AO/OTA 61C2.1 injury.

Posterior contralateral injury
The contralateral posterior arch injury may be any type of incomplete injury (rotational, partially unstable)

Anterior injury
The anterior injury is one or more of the following:

  • Symphyseal disruption
  • Pubis fracture
  • Ramus fractures

Ipsilateral injury completely unstable through the SI joint, contralateral partially stable

Posterior ipsilateral injury
Ipsilateral injuries are completely unstable injuries through the SI joint:

  • Transiliac fracture-dislocation (crescent fracture) with complete S-I displacement
  • Pure SI dislocation

This is classified as an AO/OTA 61C2.2 injury.

Posterior contralateral injury
The contralateral posterior arch injury may be any type of incomplete injury (rotational, partially unstable)

Anterior injury
The anterior injury is one or more of the following:

  • Symphyseal disruption
  • Pubis fracture
  • Ramus fractures

Posterior ipsilateral injury
Ipsilateral injuries are complete vertical fractures through the sacrum.

This is classified as an AO/OTA 61C2.3 injury.

Posterior contralateral injury
The contralateral posterior arch injury may be any type of incomplete injury (rotational, partially unstable)

Anterior injury
The anterior injury is one or more of the following:

  • Symphyseal disruption
  • Pubis fracture
