Oblique extraarticular fracture of the proximal end segment

Definition

Oblique metaphyseal fractures of the proximal phalangeal base are classified according to AO/OTA as 78.2–5.1.1A, where 2–5 indicates which finger is injured.

Obliquity of the fracture is possible either in the plane visible in the AP view or the lateral view. Always confirm the fracture configuration with views in both planes.
