Wedge/multifragmentary extraarticular fracture of the distal end segment

Definition

Wedge and multifragmentary metaphyseal fractures of the proximal phalangeal neck are classified according to AO/OTA as 78.2–5.1.3A, where 2–5 indicates which finger is injured.

Comminuted fractures are often unstable.
