Wedge, intact, distal 1/3 fractures

Intact wedge fractures in the distal third of the femoral shaft are classified as 32B2(c) fractures.

In intact wedge fractures there are three fragments, a proximal, a distal and a wedge fragment. After reduction there is some contact between the proximal and distal fragments.

Wedge fractures often result from moderate injury to the femur. The mechanism is a bending force, usually three points.
