Wedge, fragmentary, middle 1/3 fractures

Fragmentary wedge fractures in the middle third of the femoral shaft are classified as 32B3(b) fractures.

In fragmentary wedge fractures, there is some contact between the proximal and distal fragments after reduction.

Fragmentary wedge fractures often result from moderate injury to the femur. The mechanism is a bending force, usually three points.
