Simple, oblique, middle 1/3 fractures

Simple oblique fractures in the mid third of the femoral shaft are classified as 32A2(b) fractures.

Simple oblique fractures often result from medium to moderate injury to the femur. Slightly more energy is needed to cause an oblique fracture as compared to a spiral fracture. This fracture is exemplified by a fracture angle of more than 30°.
