This fracture type is classified by the AO/OTA as 13A3.3.
In these fractures, each column has a wedge fragment and may be multifragmentary.
The fracture zone in relation to the olecranon fossa can be variable, ie, there are high and low variants.
Fractures of the distal third of the humeral shaft often have metaphyseal extension into the distal humeral columns and need to be classified and treated as distal humeral fractures.
