Complete multifragmentary fracture of the radius

In these injuries, there is a multifragmentary fracture of the articular surface.

If the metaphyseal fracture is relatively simple, these are classified by AO/OTA as 2R3C3.1.

If the metaphyseal fracture is multifragmentary, these are classified by AO/OTA as 2R3C3.2.

If the fracture extends into the diaphysis, these are classified by AO/OTA as 2R3C3.3.

There may be an associated ulnar injury. This is usually a fracture of the ulnar styloid process, but other ulnar fractures are possible.
