Using the new AO Surgery Reference "like an app"

1. Introduction

If you would still like to have an icon on your mobile device and use it "like an app", this is quite easy to achieve.

The exact procedure will depend on your browser and your operating system, so if the below description is not appropriate, just do a web search for "how to save a web page to the home screen on…" and then the name of your browser/device.

2. iPhone (Safari Browser)

  • Go to the page you would like to use as a starting page
  • At the bottom bar in the Safari browser, select the share icon (square with arrow pointing up – the one in the middle)
Opening the menu in Safar
  • Select "Add to home screen" on the resulting slide up menu
Add to home screen in Safari
  • Rename the shortcut to your name of preference, ie AO SR
  • Select "Add" on the top right
Rename shortcut in Safari
An icon is now placed on the home screen of your mobile device just as if you would have had an app.

The icon will be a screen shot of the page you selected, but we will change this in the next couple of weeks so that you get a nice logo if you redo the process.
