Unilateral mandibular hypoplasia

Definition: Hypoplasia or aplasia of condylar process and parts of the ascending ramus.

The characteristics of unilateral mandibular hypoplasia are:

  • Short lower facial third or facial half on one side
  • Canting of occlusal plane with elevation on the affected side
  • Malocclusion
