In cases in which there are minimal clinical signs expectant observation may be the best course of treatment. If the disease progresses to become symptomatic or disfiguring, surgical intervention may be required.
When the maxilla is extensively involved dental displacement with malocclusion may develop. Orthodontic therapy may mitigate this to a degree.
Although a number of medical therapies have been utilized, none to date have shown satisfactory results.
Observation implies close follow-up.
