Metopic synostosis (Trigonocephaly)

Premature closure of the metopic suture leads to trigonocephaly which has the following characteristics: 

  • Keel-shaped forehead (best observed from a coronal view)
  • Bi-temporal narrowing
  • Hypotelorism
  • Palpable midline frontal ridge
